In August 2013 we stayed a week at the Landal Resort Walensee.
(www.landal.de) (more information in my blog post 'places to stay : Switzerland')
It's a great region to stay with plenty of places to see and things to do.
At the resort, located at the shores of the lake, there are playgrounds, an indoor playground, an small indoor swimming pool, a soccer/basketball court and enough place to run around or ride a bike or scooter.
The gondola lifts to Flumserberg are on walking distance.
It's a real nice area for hiking, there are some playgrounds around and a giant air cushion / trampoline close to the gondola lift stations and a tobogan run (Floomzer- which we didn't try).
You can take another gondola lift which will bring you higher to the Maschgenkamm (lifts going up to 2.222m).
Walensee is located in the area called 'Heidiland' referring to the story of the little girl Heidi and her grandpa taking place in this area.
So we visited Heidi's village in Maiendorf as well as Bad Ragaz. (www.heidiland.com)
We also visited Luzern and Zürich, and on a bad weather day we've been to Kindercity in Volketswil, close to Zürich (http://www.kindercity.ch)
We've also been on a boattrip to Weesen, went for a walk, had lunch and headed to the playground before taking our boat back to Unterterzen (where the Resort is) (www.walenseeschiff.ch)
- Giessenpark in Bad Ragaz: there is a camping, restaurant, outdoor pool and very very nice playground for kids (www.giessenpark.com)
- a walk to discover the Pax Mal - the road up there is already kind of a challenge and discovery (www.heidiland.com Pax Mal)
- Kindercity : we spent a wonderful day with plenty of discoveries and activities (www.kindercity.ch)
As said before, plenty of nice places to see and nice things to do !
And maybe we'll be back again for a skiing season .
