It's been the second time we booked this absolutely lovely apartment to stay for a week on the Belgium coast in De Haan.
De Haan itself is just as stunning as the apartment, it's called the
'prettiest village on the coast' known for it's long sandy beach and promenade, the belle époque buildings and villas.
Even Albert Einstein stayed in De Haan in 1933.
Check out this short footage or this video giving some more details. Apparently Einstein was returning to Europe from the USA in March 1933, and as Hitler had risen to power, Einstein refused to returned to Germany and stayed in De Haan until September 1933.
Back to the apartment:
it's spacious, clean, modern and stylish and has everything to offer you might need - well at least nearly everything.
There are two bedrooms, one with a large double bed, and another with two to four single beds (two beds always stored underneath both fixe beds unless needed).
There's a semy-open and well equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining area and a small and cosy balcony, a shower room as well as a separated toilet, a big storeroom and wardrobes.
The apartment is located on the second floor at the rear of the building, there's also access to the bicycles storage room on the ground floor and a private garage (which we never used, as parking is free all year round in front of the building).
The apartment is about 600 meters from the park and central square of De Haan, about 1km from the promenade and beach, but located very centrally and only a few steps from grocery shops, bakeries, restaurants a.s.o. (there's even a night shop just across the street which can be very convenient).
The owner of the apartment is very kind and responsive, and the apartment is reasonably priced.
(be aware: you have to bring your own sheets and towels!)
If we still could make some wishes for the ultimate perfect holiday rental...
...it would be for a second toilet (sometimes one toilet for 5 p. just isn't enough)
...we would like to have free wifi (which sometimes is really helpful when organizing and checkin information)
...maybe a dvd player - there are some german tv channels but none for children, so it would be helpful to have a dvd player or wifi to watch a cartoon for example in a language they understand.
...a place where we could bring our dog
nothing more....everything else is quite perfect at this apartment!
Here's the link to the owner's homepage.
ENJOY !
