I had a lovely day out with the kids today.
If you’re looking for fine cuisine, don’t go there for lunch, but if you’re looking for a nice family lunch with kids, Cornelys Haff in Heinerscheid (Northern Luxembourg) is a great place to be.
Service was great and staff goodhumoured.
There’s a spacious parking and lots of space for the kids to move around as well as a little theme playground.
Great place to start or end a biking or hiking tour or to stop by for a little break on the sunny terrace for a nice beer brewed at Cornelys Haff, a yummy homemade
tart with coffee or an ice cream.
Cornelys Haff which actually means 'Cornelius farm' has a long history and has been totally renovated in 1990. They do also host some quaint rooms, reasonably priced, and as mentioned above: the brewery of the local beer 'Ourdaller'.

We’ve been on a short walk afterwards to visit the location of a former village ‘Buchenburg’ closeby the village of Heinerscheid as I wanted to show my kids the ‘crosses of the wind’.
Unfortunately all the white crosses were gone 😮 (eventually under restoration right now ?). (‘Kreuze des Windes’ by Levin Monsigny Landschaftsarchitekten (installed in May 2004).
On the location of this village 'Buchenburg' was erected before 822 A.D. a church for the villages of Heinerscheid and Hupperdange, united in a common parish.
The village though has been extinguished (probably by the plague) between 1618 and 1848.
By the end of the 17th century, the name 'Buchenburg' has been replaced by the name of the parrish Heinerscheid and in 1792 the church has been demolished and a new one built in the nearby Heinerscheid.
